Take a term need from client facts to a side-by-side carrier comparison, a realistic rate class, and a digital application without leaving Quote & Apply.
▶ Watch: BackNine in 5: Term Life (5 min)
Term life is the conversation most agents already know how to start. This walkthrough shows how to go from that conversation to a realistic quote and straight into the application in one flow.
When term fits
Term covers a need that ends: income while kids are dependent, a mortgage, a business loan, or another obligation with a payoff date. If part of the need won’t go away, look at whole life or a permanent product for that portion.
What you need before you start
-
Date of birth, gender, and state
-
Height and weight
-
Nicotine use
-
How the client would rate their own health
-
Face amount and term length
The click path
-
Enter the client’s basics, build, nicotine, and health rating.
-
Enter the face amount and term length, then run the quote.
-
Compare carriers side by side. Premium, product features, and conversion details are on one screen.
-
Click Continue to move into the application. Walk it live with the client, or enter their contact info and send them their portion.
-
Sign electronically and submit.
What to get right on the call
Quote the rate class the facts support, not the one the client hopes for. Clients almost always rate their health higher than the build chart does. In the walkthrough, a 46-year-old male non-smoker rates himself at the top of the scale, but Quote & Apply checks his height and weight against carrier build charts and prices him at Standard Plus. Use that number. A quote that holds up through underwriting is worth more than a Super Preferred rate that falls apart three weeks later.
Treat no-exam banners as possible, not promised. Some carriers show accelerated or no-exam pathways. The carrier makes that call after reviewing the application. Don’t tell the client there won’t be an exam.
Bring up conversion on day one. Every term option shows its conversion details. If the client’s needs might become permanent later, that option has real value, and it’s much easier to explain now than in year 18.
After you submit
The application runs about ten screens instead of a 40-page paper form. Required questions must be answered before you can move forward, so the case reaches the carrier in good order. If an exam is required, you can schedule it inside the application.
Once submitted, the case appears in BOSS with real-time status. If the carrier needs anything, your case manager chases it.
No appointment needed
You don’t need to be appointed with a carrier to quote or submit. Appointment happens in the background as the case moves. A carrier you’ve never written with is not a reason to wait.
Ready to run one? Click Launch Quote & Apply at the top of BOSS. Not sure how to structure it? Send us the age, state, face amount, term length, and basic health, or use Schedule a Meeting and we’ll work the first case with you.
